On the Tracks of Lutry, the Winegrowing Town
Lavaux Passion showcases not only the region’s wine, but also its setting, its landscape. The Lavaux vineyards are a perfect example of the interaction between man and the earth, and the harmony between a town and the winegrowing landscape. UNESCO acknowledged this in 2007 by classifying them as a World Heritage site. During Lavaux Passion, a touring outdoor exhibition in the village of Cully will lead to a dialogue with the past and Cully’s wine-producing history that make it the town of Lavaux. Where were the vineyards? How and where did our winegrower ancestors load the wine barrels? How did industry and urbanisation influence wine growing? What challenges did the inhabitants and players have to face? How can we hand down this harmony that has been perfectly preserved for a thousand years?
Come and find out more on this fascinating theme and “read” our landscape through the exhibition that will be set up throughout the town and will take you on a journey in time. Guided tours on various themes such as the winegrowing architecture in Cully or old wine cellars will be offered during the whole week-end.
Do you thirst for heritage and don’t wish to wait for Lavaux Passion? Make the most of one of the numerous guided tours, either regular or thematic, offered by Lavaux World Heritage. See here for details.
